-----------------------------
I had fun this year Wesak Day.
Never quit
The only way to lose is to quit. As long as you continue to make the effort, you have not lost.
Everyone experiences setbacks. However, those who achieve the most experience the most setbacks because they persist as long as it takes to reach each goal.
Does it ever seem that you are blocked in every direction? That's the time to get creative, become more flexible, and open yourself to the possibilities that are most certainly there.
Sometimes when you get stuck in a rut, the rut can suddenly and unexpectedly run out. What a great opportunity that can be for you to climb out of that rut, look around, and see all the valuable things you've been missing.
Never quit. Use each setback, each disappointment, and each success, as a cue to push on ahead with more determination than ever before.
Never quit, and you will create the life you choose.

Wesak Day 2008 Procession Part 1 of 3

I’m the driver for the car procession; this is the second year we participate in the Wesak Day procession. The first year we have a team of people, this year the Buddhist association had successfully come out with a mini decorated Buddha car. Is a bit small, but is better than nothing. The main objective is to let people to have a chance to celebrate this wonderful day together.

We start to gather at the assembly point around 5pm. We all gather at the Jubilee Stadium. The procession consists of 8 decorated vehicles, 22 teams of people procession, and 10 teams of school people procession. I waited in the car for our team to start marching out from the stadium. A lot of photographer come and take photo of all the decorated vehicles. Hope you like the photos my dear readers.

Wesak Day Charity Sales @ Sarawak Buddhist Association

Wesak (Vesak) is an annual holiday at Malaysia, in Chinese we called it “Buddha Birthday”, it actually encompasses the birth, enlightenment Nirvana, and passing away of Gautama Buhhda.

As a Buddhism I celebrate my celebrate by participating the charity sales held at the Sarawak Buddhist Association, it start around 7am. When we reach the Buddhist Temple, the place was crowded with people. There is people offering joss stick, flower, fruits, vegetarian food, and candle light.

We’re in charge of organizing the charity sales, so we have to make sure that is running smoothly. Without wasting anytime immediately we unload our food. And display the food properly on the table. The crowds start pounding in. Thanks goodness we have enough manpower to cater the crowds.

Feel very thankful when seeing most of the people buying from us, thankful because they support charity, thankful because they had done the right thing. In terms of money I can’t help much, what I can offer is all the help that they need. The crowds are like wind, they come and go quickly after buying.

Among the food that we sell are sushi, and rice dumplings. And usually the sushi will finish first, but here no. Our rice dumplings finish first, then sushi last. I wonder why? After the charity sales, my friends and I participated a chanting ceremony. We follow the shi fu (monk) chant mantra, and one of my friend went to bath the Statue of little Buddha. After the ceremony, is lunch time. We had our lunch at the association. It was a great morning, very happy.

Now I have to go back to our Buddhist temple to prepare for the procession tonight, stay tune for the procession post my dear reader :)
01
It was a HOT Monday morning, but this will not stop our enthusiasm and devotion to make this charity sales a success.
02
Despite the hot weather, they still do their sales. That’s the spirit guys, keep it going.
03
Very thankful that my friends show up to offer a helping hand on the sales.
04
We have a few sponsor, they are kind enough to sponsor us food. And the collection all donate to the Buddhist Association.
05
My friends scarifying their lovely holiday just to wake up early and help selling. A very BIG Thank You for those who showed up and help.
06
That night the association will organize a procession, as you can see the worker are still working on the decorated car. They are racing with the time now.
07
I love seeing people coming in, this is when we use our selling skills. How to sell to the customer, and let the customer satisfy with our product, a win-win situation.
08
The crowd start to get less when it reach 10am. This is when discount and special offer come in handy to push our leftover food.
09
This cute little girl is watching the other kids playing on the seesaw, and swing. You like it very much, but what you can do it watch only. I hate this feeling.

One Day Trip to Matang Wild Life Centre

It was a hot weekend last week; my friend and I went to enjoy the cold stream water at the Matang Family Park. The last time I visited this place was three years ago. The park here beside steam water, they also had chalet which cost a hundred plus for one night, then there is area which they kept all the orang utan. The park here is taken care by the Sarawak Wildlife and National Park department. So upon entering the park, we need to pay entrance fee.

Charity Sales @ The Welfare of Intellectually Disabled Children Association

Girl on phone ”Hello, may I speak to Wilson Chin?”
I reply “Yeah, this is Wilson speaking. Who is this?”
Girl on phone“This is from Intellectually Disable Children Association. Your stall number for this coming charity sale will be Stall No.1”
-----------------
Oh yeah!! We’re the lucky number one. From this month onward, the charity group from the Buddhist association will be participate few charity sales organize by various association. One thing I like about charity sales is that it can always remind me on how lucky I am.

Just few months back when I submit the application form for the charity sales, when I walk into the Intellectually Disabled Children school a.k.a Perkata Special School at Jalan Ong Tiang Swee, the school was just like any other normal primary school, just that the students here they have minor mental disable. But this does not stop them from studying just like any other normal kids. I saw some of the students are sweeping the floor, cleaning the windows, and one of them even clean the toilet.

This make me look up to them as some of the normal people (including myself) are not as hardworking as they are. All the teacher at the school here need to put extra effort to teach the students here, a big thank you Teacher. So when seeing all of this I told myself that there is nothing can stop us from helping this school to raise more fund.

During the charity sales, our stall location is situated at the back of the school. So this is not good from the sales point of view, cause the customer might had finish buying when they reach us. But it didn’t stop us, we all work together and use various tactic to sell of our vegetarian food. Surprisingly, we manage to finish selling ALL our vegetarian food among the 90 stalls. Yes!! We’re the first to sell of all our stuff. We had earned 3 times from our actual capital, donate all to the school.

02
Beside association from religion, there are groups from the private sector like bank, shop, and etc also participated in this charity sales. This is good, as it will help the school on raise more fund.

03
Another thing which makes me feel happy is that when people come buy from us, what they’re holding on their hand is not just one ticket, but a few pieces. This means that there are still a lot of generous and kind hearted people out there.

Two Day One Night at Miri

Went to visit my younger brother Kerry at Miri last month. Miri are smaller than Kuching, but the living standard is quite high. There are a lot of big houses near the bay area. This is something which I can’t find at Kuching. That evening after dinner, my brother had driven me to a place called the Marina Bay. This is the first at Sarawak, is a place for rich people to park their private boat, and have their dinner at a five star restaurant just beside the dockyard.

The view, breathtaking!!! Just when my brother parks his car, immediately I keep on pressing my camera shutter button. I’m speechless, the scene is just beautiful, is the art of nature. Here the sea is tame, cold breeze blowing gently on my face, and the breathtaking scene. It give me this wonderful feeling, is like I’m part of this art.

The next morning, I didn’t sleep well actually. Not comfortable enough my brother bed. Is time for us to go back Kuching, but before that my brother drives us to an esplanade. Is a public beach and everyone can come here, unlike Kuching most of the beach are private, pay first then enter. Here people can come for free and bring their family here for a evening jog, hanging out, or just spend some quality time with love one. I hope one day Kuching will also have a place like this. Then I’ll have more places to date my girl.

Next stop is the Canada Hill, where the grand old lady stand. Just when we reach the airport, good news our flight had retime, which means we have to wait for another 4 freaking hour at the airport. This is what happens when you use cheap stuff.

01
My ticket to Miri, I’m leaving on a jet plane ~ ~ ~ ~

It is always sad when seeing how they unload the baggage.

07
The next morning, I didn’t sleep well last night. There are mosquitos everywhere, I’m donating blood to them.

08
This is the place where my brother lives, is a club house own by his boss but the boss is kind enough to let their staff stay. I wish I had a boss like that.

09

2552 Wesak Day Joggathon

Today is Labor Day, is a public holiday. I wake up at 5.50am. There is a Wesak Day Joggathon at the district council, and I’m with the Buddhist association, and we’re in charge of the traffic, what we need to do is to give direction to all the contestants on where to run.

That morning there are not much people participate cause of the morning drizzle. So the organizer asked us to join in the race. Two of our friends speed up very fast, while the rest of us just walk slowly at the back. But very fortunate we still manage to get a consolation price from the organizer.
