Fa Yuan Buddhist Association Charity Dinner @ Civic Center Kuching Sarawak

this post will stay here until 29sep07

What Can A Bunch Of Young People Like You Do For The Society?

Yep, this is the question that we face most each time when we start to organize a charity activity. Compare to them we maybe young, and have no experience. But we will not be knock down by this. We have a passion in helping the unfortunate people, we are young and energetic, we will try our very best in order to prove to the society that WE CAN DO SOMETHING for the public. We CAN CONTRIBUTE something for our country, and the unfortunate people to let them have a better living.

Today, as you all sitting in front of the computer with a healthy body reading my blog, you have eyes to see, ears to listen, hand to type, leg to walk. You can go anyplace you want to hang up with friends. BUT have you ever for once in your life think of there are also people out there with no hands to type, write, draw. No eyesight to read blog, which still don’t know how to use a computer and some are now lying on the bed because of cancer, diabetes, or sitting on the wheel chair hoping someone will come and talk to them? Ever think of that once in your life?

In the Buddhist association, I’m in charge of the charity division. And now I hope that with the help of the internet, I can reach you, who has ever think of want to help the unfortunate people, who want to do charity, who want to contribute a bit for our country, but don’t know how.

salvation army girl home
Salvation Army girl home, they don’t know who their father or mother are. When we fall sick, the first person is MOM I don’t feel well. When they fall sick, who they going to call? Who will buy toy for them? Buy computer for them? Buy mobile phone for them? Buy Levi jeans for them? Bring them to college or university?

old folks home
The Sarawak Yun Nam Siang Tng. Our parent care for us, our food, our education, our clothes, our future. But when we become independent, can we do the same for our father and mother?

chesire home
In our world we live happily, we have parent cook nice food for us. Or we can go buy nice food to eat. But how about them? Is this fair for them?

What happen to this car?

Monday Morning, a car parked in front of my office. I took a closer look at the car; there is something wrong. The win screen is badly damage, and so as the rest of the car screen. The left side of the tires is punched. What happen to here? Who had done this? The owner must have made someone very angry, by damaging the car like this, can it really solve the problem? Why not save the energy and go back home and sleep.

Friday Morning. Had an appointment with a customer, he would like to make some modification of the ship engine. This is the first time I have ever entered a ship dockyard. This dock is called the Broke Dock Yard, a historical place. Now it is for the government ships to come in for repair. One of my friends is a painting inspector, I learn from him that the ship require different type of coating to prevent it from corrosion.
On our growing up stage, our parent, our teacher, some senior people have constantly put on good coating on us. But somehow our mind still gets corrosion and is always easier to gain bad influence than good one.

Sunday Evening, accompany grandma to the omni shop to get something for dinner. I’m stading in front of the shop waiting for grandma to finish buying. Saw this two pity eels in the pail. Their destiny is to become someone dinner tonight. Is very difficult to become a vegetarian, when you eat you have to make sure there is no garlic, onions, no animal cooking oil, no meat. I’ll become vegetarian on the first and the fifteen of each month in the Chinese lunar calendar. Though is just two days, but sometime still broke the rules accidentally.

My August Short Story

The first weekend, there were many dust on my computer. I clean my pc, take out the VGA card, sound card, the processor, the RAM, everything. And clean it with brush and then carefully assembly it back. I switch on the power button, but nothing happen. I off it again, and give a few punch here and there still the same. OMG, I should not clean it…. Unplug all the cables, and recheck the internal organ again. Clumsy me, I had plug the RAM in a wrong direction, no wonder can’t switch on. Lesson lean – must be mindful when work.

Finish reading a book. The title is “看 见 孩 子 的 力 量” (Discover the power of our Children). This book is a collection of article from all the kids’ parents; their kids are studying at The Buddhist Tzu Chi Kindergarten at Malaysia. The age range from 3 to 12 years old. Is the message from their parent on how their children change from bad to good, and how the grownup lean from their children on value like “gratitude, grateful, cooperation, show filial obedience, and many more. This kindergarten had plant a seed of good value in the unpolluted children heart, so in the future they will live and grow up by this value, and become a better person. Most of the chapters bring tears to me. After finish reading the book, I stare blankly at my computer screen and think though I have a high education, though I’ve been working for years, though I’m 26 years old, though many people like me. But compare with these 3 to 10 years old children, I’m nothing. They have pure moral mindset; they love each other, no back stabbing, no hate, no anger, and no jealousy. 100% pure happy, when they said thank you, they really mean it, when they smile…it bring teas to my eyes again. This is a very nice book, and is a must read for the teacher on how to educate this little children. Kuching should have a Buddhist Tzu Chi Kindergarten 佛 教 慈 济 幼 稚 园, and apply this education here. If you would like to read the book (Chinese Version Only), you can email me wilsonchin1981@gmail.com, I will send you the contact number of 慈 济Tzu Chi offices in Malaysia.

This is a sharing from a mom, her child name Chiew Wang Zheng Jing, 5 years old, Male, at Butterworth Buddhist Tzu Chi Kindergarten.
(Translated to English by me :-) )
My Children is like the lubricant between me and my husband! His words are like rain, that wash away our stubbornness.
There is one time when I’m having a quarrel with my husband, Zheng Jing was worried. Just when his father are going out, he hurry and grab his father hand and said “Papa, you didn’t use a proper voice to speak to mama, you should say sorry to mama.” Then he come, grab hold of my hand and said: “mama, can you forgive papa? Teacher said that forgiveness is a virtue!”
My tears almost drop after listen to what my 5 years old son told me. Each time having quarrel with my husband, I only think of winning, and I had forgot to look into the mirror to see myself. My son wishes that we can live a happy life. And he also teaches us what he had learned from school, as parent my husband and I should be ashamed, and learn from our son.
