The juice extremely delicious, mix with some pandan flavor. The lady is kind enough to split the coconut into half, and let me eat the coconut. The also use the hard skin, and make it as a spoon to let me dig the coconut to eat.

That day I went to Mukah for work and travel, its was the first time that I visit Mukah. It was a one hour flight from Kuching to Mukah, with a DHC-6 twin otter 19 seats plane.

The Mukah airport is just like the Limbang old airport, its a house looking airport, with a canteen, a checkin area, and a waiting area. See the man in the mirror, that's me :)

First thing that I did when reach there was to eat the kolo noodles, this is like a habit. Whenever I visit a place in Sarawak, I will definitely eat their local made kolo noodles. So by far the most tasty noodles is from Sibu.

In the town area, mostly are Chinese people doing business. And surprisingly Mukah has a lot of Hotels and Inn, I'm not sure that's the tourist attraction for this place, but the local people told me that the hotels are always full. O_o"

The Sago palm thrives in the peat soils of the Rajang Delta. In the 19th century, local cheiftains grew rich from the labour of farmers who extracted the starchy pith of tall palms manually. Sago factories streamlined this process. In the early 20th century the price of sago flour fell sharply. The Mukah factory closed, leaving behind a 20 meter tall brickwork chimney.

The Batang Mukah Bridge, one of the most notable structures of Mukah. But unfortunately I do not have the time to go visit that bridge. All I went is just roam in the Mukah Town, the airport and the bus station are very near with just 2 - 3 KM away from the town area.

Five Days at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Ate noodles most of the time

I spend a total of 5 days at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Not for holiday but work, so no sightseeing, no visit to island, no Mount Kinabalu, no hot chicks, just eat, talk to people, eat again, and talk to people again. My friend bring me to this “Foh Chuan Restaurant” here is famous of the roasted meat, and the noodles. I’ve tried the noodles, and I like it. The girls that came to take our order looks same like the others in the restaurant, this might be operate by only one family. And they have really nice looking daughter.

The weather at Kota Kinabalu were warm, I went to a small town called Tuaran. A one hours of car drive from Kota Kinabalu town to Tuaran, most of the resident there are Malays and the natives people. After finish work, my friend introduces me to the famous Tuaran Noodles. “Bak Kut Teh King Restaurant” is one of the places that serve the best Tuaran Noodles. There are two type of flavor I can choose for, one are purely barbeque port meat, and one are mixed with steam chicken and port meat, I op for the mixed one. I don’t know what they put inside the noodles, but it really tasted good :)

Kota Kinabalu waterfront unlike Kuching waterfront where just serve some light food like french fried, teh tarik, or bugger. Here they have a lot tourist, the Kinabalu waterfront are build on top of the seaside, it has breeze constantly blowing, and the sound where the sea water hit the shore. Big screen projector to watch football, very good looking tourist, and locals. Nice cars parked outside the waterfront, some more we had to pay when enter the waterfront.

“Wan Wan Restaurant” is another restaurant which is famous for its unique fish made noodles, fish balls, and their home made chili. The Chili is damn hot and spicy, I can’t take spicy food, but again I don’t know what they put inside the chili, even a person like me would like to take this spicy chili. The main course is this very big bowl of fish soup, in the soup are fish made noodles, fish balls, and fresh fish meat. You can’t take away the chili, if you’ve finish yours, you can request for more.

My last day at Kota Kinabalu, just few hours before I board my plane back Kuching. I went to this “Jia Siang Restaurant”, most of the workers here are Philippines, but they can speck simple Malays. The famous dish here is the meat balls soup serves with soya noodles. And the soup goes well with their homemade chili, here unlike “Wan Wan Restaurant” the chili is for sales. I like the meat balls, it taste great.

Fish Pond and Santubong Mountain

I went to a fish pond near the Santubong Mountain. Is a 45 minutes drive from Kuching town. When there on an official business, the driver and me got a little lost when we reach the entrance. We’ve asked almost everyone we meat along the way for the direction. Very fortunately, we manage to find the actual location. Our destination is a fish pond; we need to send a generator to the pond. When we reach the pond, I step down the lorry and yell loudly for the worker name “Muhammad, Muhammad !!!”, he give respond by asking us to “Tungu, saya turun sekarang.” Yep, he’s coming out from his house. The worker came out and greed us politely, is a guy in his mid 50’s.

He told us that he is just having lunch with his wife, and the menu is a fresh fish that he just caught from the pond. And the fish weight about 3KG. OMG!!! Is a big fish, I can see that behind his house there is plant vegetable. So he eat vegetable which is free from pesticide, and eat fresh, juicy and free fish which can easily get at the pond. And can enjoy a beautiful scene with Mount Santubong and forest surrounding him. This is the life I told him. He told me that his job is to look after the fish, feed them on time, and make sure that no one come and steal the fish. And when the harvest season come, the owner will came and catch all the fish, and send it to other place. They need the generator for paddling the water, so that the fish will have enough oxygen, and they can also have electricity during the night time.

We help him lower down the generator to the small room that he had prepare. It took us quite a while to lower down the big generator, is heavy, and bulky. After everything is done, I went to the pond side sit under the tree shade to take a rest. Is very windy here, and I can see Mount Santubong clearly. Here’s some photos I took, enjoy.

along the way the driver had told me a lot of his story, how he court his wife, and what must men do. He share a lot of his life time experience with me, is funny, and very entertaining.

02
After a lot of turning left and right, we finally manage to get on the correct path.

03
here they don’t have any sign board, any lamp pole. We look for the direction by guessing.

04
After several guesses, we had reach the fish pond. Is a very windy place, beautiful scene.
