Five Days at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Ate noodles most of the time

I spend a total of 5 days at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Not for holiday but work, so no sightseeing, no visit to island, no Mount Kinabalu, no hot chicks, just eat, talk to people, eat again, and talk to people again. My friend bring me to this “Foh Chuan Restaurant” here is famous of the roasted meat, and the noodles. I’ve tried the noodles, and I like it. The girls that came to take our order looks same like the others in the restaurant, this might be operate by only one family. And they have really nice looking daughter.

The weather at Kota Kinabalu were warm, I went to a small town called Tuaran. A one hours of car drive from Kota Kinabalu town to Tuaran, most of the resident there are Malays and the natives people. After finish work, my friend introduces me to the famous Tuaran Noodles. “Bak Kut Teh King Restaurant” is one of the places that serve the best Tuaran Noodles. There are two type of flavor I can choose for, one are purely barbeque port meat, and one are mixed with steam chicken and port meat, I op for the mixed one. I don’t know what they put inside the noodles, but it really tasted good :)

Here they have a lot tourist, the Kinabalu waterfront are build on top of the seaside, it has breeze constantly blowing, and the sound where the sea water hit the shore. Big screen projector to watch football, very good looking tourist, and locals. Nice cars parked outside the waterfront, some more we had to pay when enter the waterfront.

“Wan Wan Restaurant” is another restaurant which is famous for its unique fish made noodles, fish balls, and their home made chili. The Chili is damn hot and spicy, I can’t take spicy food, but again I don’t know what they put inside the chili, even a person like me would like to take this spicy chili. The main course is this very big bowl of fish soup, in the soup are fish made noodles, fish balls, and fresh fish meat. You can’t take away the chili, if you’ve finish yours, you can request for more.

My last day at Kota Kinabalu, just few hours before I board my plane back Kuching. I went to this “Jia Siang Restaurant”, most of the workers here are Philippines, but they can speck simple Malays. The famous dish here is the meat balls soup serves with soya noodles. And the soup goes well with their homemade chili, here unlike “Wan Wan Restaurant” the chili is for sales. I like the meat balls, it taste great.

After that long hours of bus ride, my back are till aching. My flight to Sabah was at 10.15pm that night, and it will take about 1 hour and 25 minutes to reach there. Got a text from AirAsia saying that my flight will delay, but I still went to the airport earlier. At Kuching International Airport, there are no free wifi, I update my visitation to Mr Pat blogpost while waiting for the departure time. My last visit to Sabah was at the year 2004, that time Sabah was already a flourishing state, now I think she will be busier, and more flourishing than last time. I can’t wait to step my feet at Sabah.
1 1/2 hour later…
I’ve reach Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. After I got my luggage, I saw my friend is waiting for me. He bring me to the “Fook Yuen Coffee Shop” one of the famous spot at KK. Here the special item is the homemade bread; the bread is very thick and soft. Most of the time here will be pack with people coming for this bread. I also tried their nasik lemak, not bad.

At the same day, that night my brother drove me to the Miri bus terminal again. And I bought a ticket back to Kuching which cost of RM80, I’m using Biaramas Transport Company, and the last bus to depart Miri to Kuching is 10pm. Estimate it would take around 13 to 14 hours for me to reach Kuching.

001
Bought a ticket to Kuching, RM80. I need to get to Sabah on the 31st, if not I will stay at Miri longer for holiday.

002
The last bus from Biaramas Transport Company is 10.00pm, I board the bus 15 minutes earlier.

003
The bus has very comfortable seats, which can let me have a good night sleep. To get to Kuching, it would need around 13 hours. There are two bus drivers, so they can each take turns to drive along the long journey.

004

005
The bus will stop on each station, for us to rest, pay water bill, eat and drink. I’m now at Batu Niah, just 2 hours away from Miri. Here is very hear to the famous Batu Niah cave, I planned to visit this cave for a long time :(

006
I didn’t came to Batu Niah for 6 years, it had change a lot. Now the food court is clean, and there’s a new one just opposite the old one. Batu Niah, Miri is a very famous national park, is famous for its caves, and birds nest

007
12.10am, I try to force myself to sleep. I don’t want to stay awake in this long journey. But I fail, so I on my laptop, and watch National Geography. The more I watch the dizzier I get, cause the bus keep on shaking. I hate the Sarawak Highway, er…should I called this bumpy road a highway, or just normal kampong path.

008

011
6.15am. Now I’m at Sarikei bus terminal, the sun is rising. Beautiful rays shin on the glass and into my camera shutter; I press on the shutter twice, and store this beautiful scene into my camera digital memory. I like photography ;)

012
I’m now somewhere between Sarikei and Sri Aman, is 8.16am. Though the seats is comfortable, but still miss my bed.

013
I felt hungry again, I had some buns RM2.20, it doesn’t taste good, but is better than nogthing.

014
9.55am, is Durian session at Sarawak. The bus driver stop by a bus stop on passenger request, and they went down to asked for the durian price.

015
There is no toilet around, so this uncle just pay his water bill beside the durian stall, yep… you hear me right, just few steps beside the bus stop where all this ladies aunties sell durians, hehe ~_~”

016
10.53am, I’m entering the Sri Aman district. This means that I’m almost reach Kuching, I called my friend to tell him my location, so that he knows when to pick me later.

017
