Sibu – Day Three (Last Day)

On my last day at Sibu, I went to the night market near my hotel. At Kuching the night market only available on Saturday and Sunday but here the market operates every night. It starts at 5.00pm something, so after my 5.30pm work the time is just right for me.

I’m very hungry that time, as I only had a “kan pua” (noodle) for my lunch. Sibu is very famous for “kan pua” I think Sibu had the best and cheapest “kan pua” noodles. When I reach the night market, I start to buy the thing I like to eat. Beside selling food the night market also sales many others stuff like clothes, watches, daily usage, wallet, bags, umbrella, you name it, I think they have it.

After buying food, there is still enough time for me to rush back hotel to catch my Hong Kong series. I bought so many things with just around RM4.00 something, OMG! Is very cheap, at Kuching I cannot get this price. The food is not just cheap, but very tasty as well (or maybe because I am hungry that time). Anyway I seldom spend money on food without thinking, and this is the first time and it feels good. Actually I had bought a lot more, but if I post it all up you guys surely will think that I’m like a hungry ghost.

After my dinner, and Hong Kong series. I was very full and tired, wanted to sleep but can’t. After bath, my phone rang. It was my cousin brother, so I went out with him again to have my second round dinner. We went to a place where there is a lot of food stall selling western food, Malay food, and Chinese food. My cousin brother had order a lot for me, but I really cannot take it anymore so we waste a lot. Nowadays I had the habit of not wasting food, but that night I really cannot eat anymore, so I feel kinda bad on wasting those foods.

Overall, Sibu is really like a heaven of food. First is Cheap, second is Delicious, third it has so many choices. I’ll be coming back for more food when I have the chance.

Tallest Building at Sibu

I think this might be the tallest building in Sibu, the San Yang Building. My co-worker told me that the building is a combination of shopping mall, and corporate office. Don’t know how it feels to have an office on the highest floor?

Sibu – Day Two

Day One is HERE

I woke up in the a.m finding myself full of energy after few hours of sleeping. With nothing to do, I grab my camera and went down to the street to get something to eat and for a walk. The street is quiet, and cold. There’s a big open air park. This is a new park, cause I never seen this few years ago, yet is a.m but there are still people hanging around in the park.

There’s a big statue of a goose standing in the middle of the park. Surrounding it are the statues of twelve Chinese zodiacs. Not sure what it means, but I guess the goose must be symbolized of Sibu. It has a “S” shape on the goose, and Sibu starts with “S”…logic, agree? I went back to the hotel after my digicam went on low batt, it needs to recharge, and so am I.

Sibu – Day One

Last week when I arrive at Sibu, we were to go to Sarikei for work immediately. So I didn’t have time to take photo at Sarikei *sorry to chen not be able to take photos of Sarikei :( *. After finish work that night we head back to Sibu by car, when we reach Sibu our co-worker brings us for dinner. It is very generous of them to drive their way all the way from Sarikei to Sibu, and bring us dinner again.

My co-worker told me that this is a very famous place for seefood, the food is tasty, and the price is reasonable. I’m not much of a seafood lover, but I can eat almost anything now. I haven’t had a proper meal since 5.00a.m.

While waiting for our dish to come, I went around the restaurant to see if have anything interesting. There is a corner where they kept the fish, and prawns. Just when I walk closer, I heard noise made by frog. I open one of the box cover and discover there are many frogs hiding in there. And some of them are FAT!!! In Chinese we don’t called this frog, we called it “田鸡” translate to English “farm chicken”. I ate this before, if cook with ginger and Soya sauce, it will become a very delicious dish.

After our dinner, they send us to our hotel, my co-worker and I live at the Premier Hotel. After I grab my room key, immediately I rush into my room. Bath and zzzzz….

New Ice-Kacang Stall

Hi guys…I’m back.

Yesterday evening went to the new ice-kacang stall, last time it was like this. After that the government had take up their place to build a beautiful park, and the Sarawak Government had also build a new food stall for them to operate their business.

This building had it own unique design, is not like any other food stall that build in a strait line, this one is a circle. So before you choose which stall to sit down, you can walk around the stall then make the decision.

My friends and I had chosen this “Ah Yeo Ais Kacang” I guess that the boss uses his sure name as the sign board. I’m craving for ice-kacang now….just when we had finished our drinks, the sky starts to pouring rains. This is still ok for me, what worse is that I forgot to close my car windows, and my car seat are all wet!!!

Raining, and I had forgot completely about my car windows…I am getting old

Hui Sing Garden Hawker centre

The Hui Sing hawker canter is also known as Hui Sing open-air food center. It had more than 20 shop lots, each selling different kind of food, and drinks. I skip my lunch yesterday, and I was very hungry and after reaching home immediately I went to Hui Sing to have my dinner.
The food business is very good at Hui Sing open-air, though there also quiet a numbers of coffee shops in the same area, but this didn’t affect the food business at Hui Sing. I should get a shop lot and start selling Chicken Rice if I tired of doing my current job. Each month with a fix income, and everyday have to deal with management, and give answer to the end-user.
How can I survive…?

Visit to Fisherman Village @ Muara Tebas

Before we plan to go home, the sky became dark and the sun was cover by clouds. So I change my mind and decided to have a walk on the jetty, I was very frustrated because my digicam is on low batt mode. I still have a lot of view to be capture into my digicam.

As my friend and I walk on the jetty, we can feel the warm breeze blowing at us. Wei Shian look at me and laugh, he told me that my face looks red. I look at my own hand, it is very red as well. Just when we reach the end of the jetty, the digicam batt finally runs off. Oh man! I hate it, with all of this great view, but can’t capture them. I must come back again to take more photos, if not I will not be satisfy.

I start to chat with the people at the jetty. One of them told me that this is the first time he fish here, and hopes that he could catch a big fish to barbeque. The tide is very low, is hard to catch a fish with low tide. One of them had caught one very strange fish, its throat grows big like a ball, and there are tinny thorns. That guy use a lighter to burn its ball shape throat, what a fucker. I look back from the jetty, and I can see The Green Mountain Rock Temple became very small. I hurry switch on my digicam, and use the last power to shot that view.

When we walk back, two kids were sitting in front of their house. I look closer, and saw a round shape species with a long tail. Is a horseshoe crab, it had live since the time before the dinosaur age. The kid said he caught it, and plan to barbeque it with his girlfriend tonight.

Low tide, most of the boats is park here and tie up at the stick to prevent their bots floating away when high tide.

When I look back I was wondering how do they build this jetty, how they build the foundation? How can the cement dry on wet land?


The Green Mountain Rock Temple. Actually I have a few panoramas shot on the temple and the fisherman village, but the output is not very good so I didn’t post it up. When I shoots, the batt is almost ran out so I didn’t pay much attention when I shoot it.
