Two Days One Night @ Sematan Palm Beach Resort, Kuching

White sand, big wave, coconut drink, gentle breeze, and hot chicks. They got it all here at Sematan Palm Beach Resort, I went there for a two day one night trip with my friends. We rented a room for 6 people for RM390, this include 6 packs of dinner and breakfast. One of our friends is kind enough to drive us all the way from Kuching to Sematan; it took us one and a half hour to reach Sematan. Our check in time is 2pm, just when we settle down I head to the beach first. Wow, the sun is burning me. I can’t wait to jump into the sea, but I don’t want to get Sunburn to I wait.

The rest of my gang are all in the room preparing lunch, we had bring along a lot of food, for dinner we have BBQ vegetarian style (most of them are vegetarians) we BBQ corn, potato, vegetarian sausage, and vegetarian chicken. This is the fist time I have a vegetarian BBQ, not bad, and we also have steamboat for dinner. Just when the clock reaches 4pm, we all head to the beach. This place is crowded with people, is a very beautiful place, a perfect getaway from the busy city life. The wave are strong, there is few time I also suck away by the wave, is fun when a big wave splashes on us. The water is very salty, accidentally I drank a lot of sea water. My tongue feels bitter because of the salt water. There is a lot of sea shell, and I’ve also suffer a minor cut on my feet. We all have been playing for almost two hours on the beach. Damn hungry…

We rent a BBQ stand for RM15, and start our fire. Some of my friends prepare the steamboat. We also have vegetarian sushi. There are 11 of us, but we barely finish the food. There is a lot of sand mosquito, I have sensitive skin, and I have mosquito bites on both legs. That night was full moon night; I went to the beach alone. Enjoying the quiet moment, the sound of the wave are quiet, the moon shining softly, gentle breeze blowing on my face. I took quite a few number of night shoots. Love the view. The next morning, wake around 6.30am, just in time to photo the morning beach. I had breakfast at the nearby restaurant, after breakfast back to room. I’ve enjoy this trip very much, and we’ve plan to come to Sematan again, here have a lot of small resort. So the availability is not a problem. After this trip, is back to working life again. Enjoy the photos my dear reader.

Palm beach is a private property, the owner had renovate the whole place into a small size resort. There’s a lot of small size resort at Sematan, so if this place charge you very expensive, don’t worry you still have a lot of choices.

Serapi Mount Climbing @ Kubah National Park

When I open my eyes, the sun is shining into my room. I look at the clock, OMG!!! It’s almost 8am. Last night I promise my friends that I’ll meet up with them 7am sharp to have breakfast together then go Matang, Kubah National Park to conquer the Matang mount together. I’m one hour late, I hurry get ready and drive to my friend place, just what I expected, I’m not the only one who is late, there a few of them late as well. Is a beautiful Sunday morning, everyone wants to wake up late.

After having our dinner, off we go to Kubah National Park. This park is just located next to Matang Family Park phase 2. We have more than 10 people so our entrance fees would be RM20 for a group of 5 people. This time I’m in a tip top condition unlike when I conquer Santubong Mount. The path to the top of the mount is well cover with tar, cause there is a transmitter tower on top of the mount. It might look easy to go up, but with some part as stiff as 45 degree, it requires much stamina to go up. There are a total of 10 pavilions along the way to top, a lot of wild orchid flowers can be seen as well. I’m not a flower lover, so I didn’t took much photos on it. Very fortunately we also have the chance to seen two green lizards one at the bottom of the mount, and another one on the very top of the mount. They must be husband and wife, separating from each other.

When we reach the top of the mount, I’m exhausted! The view is breathtaking, is well worth the journey and hard work. I’ve shoot a lots of photos on top, and also a series of panoramic shoots. We even saw The South China Sea on top of the mount. The weather is hot, I suffer sunburn. Didn’t expected the sun would be so strong, I should be ready next time when go for mount hiking. *sob, sob* I’m getting dark and darker.

the woods along the way up are think and tall, we live in Sarawak are very fortunate that most of our land are still preserve a big portion of forest, which can give us fresh air.

kubah_park_02
there are a total of 10 small pavilions along the way up, it also serve as a check point providing us information on the next check point.

kubah_park_03
both side of the track are cover by trees, and the path are well tar. It looks very easy to go all the way to the top, but some parts are as stiff as 45 degree, so stamina plays an important role here.

kubah_park_04
various kinds of flora can be seen here. This I dono what it call…

kubah_park_05

kubah_park_07
some breathtaking view on top of the mount, it was around 2500KM above sea level.

kubah_park_08
on the left side of the photo, my friend told me this is The South China Sea. I’m not good in geography, but what important is I got it into my camera.

kubah_park_09
A transmitter tower on top of the mount, the mist has gradually lifted so it can be seen clearly a huge and tall transmitter.

Mountain Climbing @ Mount Santubong Kuching Sarawak - Part Three of Three

Mini Series of Mount Santubong
Mount Santubong Post 1 of 3
Mount Santubong Post 2 of 3
Mount Santubong Post 3 of 3

Going downs about 45 minutes. Going down the mountain is must more easy than going up, there is three starting point to go up Santubong. We choose the second point to go up, and had chosen the third point to go down. For the third one, we after we reach down Santubong, we need to walk another 20 minutes to reach Green Café where we park our car.

Peter and Boon race their way to the car when they reach the bottom of the mount. For me I don’t have any energy, I just sit at the road side, and wait for them to come and drive me home.

This is some of the photos I shoot during my way up Santubong, sorry no photo from the mountain peak. But I promises that for my next Santubong trip, I will post lots of photos from the summit.

Mountain Climbing @ Mount SantuBoon Kuching Sarawak - Part Two of Three

Mount Santubong Post 3 of 3

The mountain trek is not easy as the jungle trek, Peter said that now we all know the power of gravity. When I was climbing up the mount,

14

15
We stop for some water. Austin had brought a pack of snack, and a pack of melt chocolate (the chocolate is 4 months old, almost expire), which make us laugh hardly. Peter did ask me what to bring, I told him bring nothing but water. He has a pack of cigarette, and water.

16
Now we have reached the first mountain trek station which is at 760 meter. Boon told us his previous experience in climbing SantuBoon…
Boon: Previously I had brought a group of 20 girls to climb this mountain, and we all had successfully gone up until the summit then down again. But the whole trip had took us 8 hours plus.
Peter: This shows that girls have a stronger mentality than guy.
Wilson: This I totally agree, I watch Survivor the girls always win when it require to stand under the sun for few hours. Why is this happening?
Austin: You know guy don’t have strong mentality, and sometime our lower part body will even bypass the brain, and do something which will make us worry for night month, and the rest of our life.
Wilson, Peter, Chua, and Boon: (O_o)” …. !!!
And our journey continue…

17
Is 880 meter and the time is now 9.23am, my hand is sharing. Barely lift up my camera, very low energy. My headache is killing me, this point onward require a lot of rope climbing.

18

19
One step at a time, this is the words which repeat again and again in my mind. There is one part where we need to walk a 70 degree slanting trek, and when we go down, I saw this in front of me.

20

22
Is waterfall, though is not big but is pretty. Just when I wanted to go down for a close shoot, I misstep and fall down. They all shout my name from behind, I had a bad fall, I hit my leg, and my back. My friends are worried, they all come and see if I’m ok or not.

21
I’m ok…we all stop by the waterfall and rest for a while.

23
We have reached 1960 meter, I’m exhausted. The trek is stiff and my legs feel numb. I wanted to ask for a rest, but I see they all are concentrating so I follow.

25
One step at a time, I had reach maximum body strength, what keep me going now is my mind. But my headache is killing me.

26

28
Is a destination that is up on the sky, impossible for me to reach it. Boon tell me there is no can or cannot, there is just I want to do it or not. Then he told me the story again, where he led 20 girls to the summit of Santubong. How I can lost to girls, so I keep on going.

27

24
The time now is 10.51am, and we have reached the F8 station 2280 meter so far. Austin used a rope to tie his pants. He told us that at the bottom of the mountain, his pants are still very tight, but now he feels that he had lost a few kilograms.

30
I have no energy to talk or stand. All of my friends ask me to lie down, cause my face look pale. Wow~~now I know how it feels to reach the max of my body energy level. Boon told me to go back, cause with my condition he worried that I might collapse soon, cause the trek will be must more tough later.

31
I look at the signboard, to the mount summit still 2 hours and 30 minutes to go. I hate the feeling of giving up, but this time due to my body condition, I might have to accept this faith. All the team member company me go down the mountain, I feel like a loser. I have to high expectation and ego.
