Visitation to Tropical Farm – Part Three of Three

On day 3, we did some sharing. Follow by election of new committees for the society. The camp ends at noon, at first day, I not use to the environment. No electric supply, limited water supply. Slowly I adapt the environment, especially during night time, when there’s no electric supply. I can see the stars clearly, the moonlight shining; I can see my own shadow during night time. Bugs singing, night breeze, this is a scene that I will never get when I’m in the city. I like it very much.

day-3
The third day of our camp, and is time to go back to the city. The sheep had given us some souvenir (shit) when they came steal our lunch.

Here’s some panoramic photos that I took during my stay at the garden.

Visitation to Tropical Farm – Part Two of Three

The Chinese name of this farm is called 日月星园, translate to Chinese is called the “Garden of the Sun, Moon, and Stars” so I asked why?

“Because is Nature my friend.” This is what the land owner told me. “The Sun, Moon, and stars all are nature! We have to appreciate what Mother Nature had provided us; she gave us water, sunlight, and air. There’s a mysterious power in nature which keep on alive, and we have to cherish that gift.”

Ya, that’s true. Sometime we just so take things for granted :S

Okey, let’s get back to the second day of my camp. I woke at 6.24am, had a morning jog with the campers. The air was damn fresh here, the morning mist were cold. The grass, trees, birds, sun, win, bugs, air, are all wakening up to start their day. In the nature all of this was very obvious, I like the fog, when I inhale, the sweetness, freshness of the air all goes into my lungs. It feels really good :)

100% no pollution, is hard to imagine is the world back to Stone Age. No pollution, no computers, no competitive. Will it be a better place? According to research, the dinosaurs had rule the planer very long time, but after the planet was rule by human being (for only 1/10 of the dinosaurs’ time), now in the technology age, the pollution was very serious. Some time I’ve been thinking the Intelligent of human being, is it a gift or a curse?

After my morning jog, we had our breakfast. Then there’s a counseling course, I like this course. It teaches us on how to care, and love. And reach for our inner self.

Well, since is about nature. The crew had decided to use leaf as plate, and our hands as spoon. Saving the planet and recycle~~ baby!!!

It looks like going to rain soon, and we had our leadership training during the evening. Just 10 minutes before the training ends, the rain pour heavily. Great, tonight I can have free air conditioner :P

The rain stop after an hours, the land owner came and bring us to walk around his farm while explaining to us the trees, plants, fish available in the farm.

He even has his own archery arena. That’s cool, I guess his children must be very good at hunting.

The Sunset at around 6:22pm.

I had a very full dinner that night, after the dinner the programs starts again. And I’m the emcee for the programs.

Visitation to Tropical Farm – Part One of Three

This is a private farm and is not open to the public. According the land owner, when he was 15 years old, he had a dream. He wanted to own a place by himself, and would build a farm base on nature concept. Years has passed, he now is a very successful businessman. And of course, he has use 10 years of time to fulfill his childhood dream.

He now owns a 65 acre of private land, and in the land he has a thousand plus of Durian trees, and 42 types of local fruits. He owns 9 manmade lakes, which raise different kinds of fish, a longhouse resort with 27 rooms, 25 obstacle course, 4KM of jogging track, some Spanish goats, African goats, some ducks, and chickens.

He give each and every one of the fauna and flora a name tag, this is to keep track of their record. He uses rains as water supplies, and generator as electricity supply. And very knowledgeable in feng shui, and Shun Zhi, Lao Zhi, Kong Zhi teaching as well we the others. He likes China history very much.

For me, is very difficult to believe that a boy who quit school at the age of 14 can accomplish all of this wealth, and to gain all of this knowledge from zero to now.

Now let’s come back to the farm, I’m one of the committee members for this 3 days 2 night camp. My job is to keep everyone entertains, and be the emcee for the game they played.

01
It was a hot day, when I first arrive here I’m a bit regret cause there’s no electric supply. Not until 6:30pm, and it shutdown at 11:00pm, so everything goes dark.

02
While waiting for the campers to come, I showed my friends a little bit of magic tricks. Yeah! I love Magic.

03
As mention earlier, there’s a longhouse type of resort. Which consists of 27 rooms, and my room number was 105, I’m sharing with others two friends.

04
Aw~~~look, this is the first time in my life to saw a sheep. Hahaha!!! Is cute and adorable, especially the white one.

05
I shoot this photo by using a binocular, but the quality sucks.

06
Some of the campers had arrive, they’re registering themselves to check in the room assign.

07
FOOD! The kitchen people are discussing what to cook for tonight dinner.

08
Before dusk, we all went for a jog. And to explorer the place, I like the obstacle part. I seldom had the changes to try out obstacle course in the city, now is the time to do so.

09
It also has two suspension bridges, one safe, and one danger. What I mean by danger is that it only had a wire steel rope as the bridge, and two more steep ropes as the handle to keep your body balance. If you miss a step, then is down into the water.

10
The land owner likes tortoise very much, he said the shell of the tortoise was use by ancient Chinese to calculate lunar calendar, some ying yang stuff, feng shui, and represent long life.

11
Is my favorite time of the day again, I love sunset. It always clam me down each time I saw it, it would be better if my girlfriend is here.

12
Ducks swimming in the lake, their speed are fast. I saw them swim from one side to another with just a few seconds. Amazing O_O

13
I’m damn hungry that night…

14
Before you enter this door, you’re steps are fast and anxious. After you leave this door, you’re steps are slow and relax. – Tropical Farm

15
We played monopoly while still have 10 mins till lights off :P and I showed some magic again to impress the young girls.

A visit to Serikin, Kuching

Serikin, a small village (belong to Sarawak) near Bau town and the Indonesia border. As a Kuching guy, I’m shame to say that this is my first visit there. It took us almost an hour of car ride to reach. The Sarawak government let our Indonesia neighbor to cross the border on every Saturday afternoon, until Sunday evening. They sell all kinds of stuff here, rattan products, clothes, key-chain, junk foods, watches, clock, watches, and more.

They trade in Ringgit Malaysia, and the stuffs are cheap here. My friend told me that we can’t buy much, cause at the police check point, we will be fine if we buy too many stuff back to Kuching. They don’t want us to buy cheap stuff here, and sell it at Kuching. I should bring my mom, and grandma here. They will love it!

Don’t simply park your car on an open space, it would be good if you park at the parking space. Just pay the man RM2, and he will look after your car. So you wanna know how Serikin looks like, here’s the photos.

serikin_01
They have diamonds, gold, football jersey, sunglasses, cooking stove…

Kuching Terminal to Sibu Terminal and Back to Kuching

Last week I had a very quick trip to Sibu not by air, nor land but by boat. And this is the first time I use boat to go to Sibu. I hate boat, but if I use a bus, it would take me around 6 to 7 hours, and the bus. Plane too expensive, where as this boat only cost me RM45 to get all the way to Sibu. The boat leave at 8:30am. Colin is with me as well, and he told me that this is the first time he’s going to Sibu.

kch-sibu-01
This is the new terminal to go to Sibu, Tanjung Manis, Sarikei, and other rural area within Sarawak. But inside is empty, is a waste of money to the public. I don’t understand why doesn’t the “boss” fully utilize this terminal building. This is what happen when “genius” runs the city.

kch-sibu-02
Is a direct sail ticket, wow this means that it will not transit to any terminal. This is what I like, I had a few bite of cookies this morning to give me energy. Just hope that is a smooth sail.

kch-sibu-03
This is my ride, the “Bahagia No.1 Kuching” which mean the Happiness No.1, this boat had a sweet name.

kch-sibu-04
This is the real view of the terminal, so where did I bought my ticket. Well is a small wooden house beside the terminal.

kch-sibu-05
That day there’s also foreigners that day, some of them are from Italy. There is a big potential in Sarawak tourism, this can be one solution to boost our economy.

kch-sibu-06
What a beautiful day today is, warm breeze, and no wave. I’m still at the Sarawak river, when the boat reach to south china sea, it will be a bumpy ride.

kch-sibu-07

kch-sibu-09
The bako industrial area, the Brooke Dockyard is near this area. This is where they assembly and build the ship.

kch-sibu-10
That’s the Muara Tebas “Green Hill Temple”, it looks so tiny from here.

kch-sibu-11
The water had change color from chocolate to green then blue, and I know I’m in the south china sea now.

kch-sibu-12
Is more than 3 hours, and I’ve reach Tanjung Manis. My younger brother Kerry was there this morning on a company trip, so we meat at the boat, and he’s heading to Sarikei. Wait a sec… when I recall back, at my ticket there it wrote Direct Sail to Sibu!!! Great! I’m been cheat.

kch-sibu-13
The time was 11:30am, and my brother told me that it would take 30min to reach Sibu. So from south china sea, now we’re in the Rajang river. The longest river at Sarawak.

kch-sibu-14
12:03pm, this Direct Sail boat had stop at the Sarikei Terminal the Terminal Dua (second terminal). My brother and his colleague had gone to Sarikei, and will drive to Kuching today. Colin and I bid farewell to my brother, and we continue with our journey.

kch-sibu-15
Due to the strong win, Colin and I had move from the ship deck into the VIP seat. And I’ve watch 2 horror movies non-stop, and we’re still not yet reach Sibu.

kch-sibu-16
The boat craw like turtle, after dropping my brother at Sarikei 12.03pm. The time now is 1:45pm, phew….finally we have reach Sibu.

kch-sibu-17
Bye bye “Happiness No.1 Kuching”. Is a good experience that can ride to Sibu by boat, but will I do this again….hm…maybe.

kch-sibu-18
So without wasting anytime, we all quickly settle and finish our task at Sibu.

kch-sibu-19
5:45pm, on my way back to Kuching. This time I’m the driver.

kch-sibu-20
This is at the Sarikei division. We stop by to pay our water bills, and wash my face.

kch-sibu-21
9:48pm, my friend is driving the car now with an average 120km/h. and we just reach the Sri Aman division.

kch-sibu-22
10:28pm, reach Kuching.
