Check out the place that I always wanted to visit.
This is the Gunung Gading National Park, situated near the Lundu Distric, Kuching.
I wanted to see the famous world's largest flower the Rafflesia Flower. But unfortunately, along the way to the waterfall, no giant flower to be seen. A bit disappointed though.
So basically when we visit the park, we can choose either jungle trekking, visit the waterfall, or camp at the site.
For me, I like jungle rather than the beach. I don't like to swim in salt water, more to stream water, cold and refreshing. So let's check out the waterfall at Gading.
Is not as huge like what I had in mind. It just has a small space for us to dive in, and soak.
Its a good place to go during the weekend, way nicer than facing my computer from 9 - 6 everyday. Have a nice weekend guys.
For photographer lover at Kuching, Buntal is the famous spot for Sunrise photography. And I had the opportunity to follow a few of my buddies to shoot sunrise photos last weekend.
Reached the place around 5.50AM, and it was still dawn. But slowly I can see the sun climbing up, and releasing that powerful sun-ray, shine on us. A very magnificent moment.
Here are some of the photos I took during before and after dawn. Enjoy :)
Cheers, Wilson
This is Buntal Village, it a fishing village, and have a few seafood restaurant here.
One of the drawback are this place are full of litter. A LOT....
Looks like the sun starts to rise slowly, I'm getting ready my camera, tailor the settings to capture this moment.
A fishing boat, this will make a perfect scene.
Another fishing boat, and the time are now 6.47AM. Within just one hour, the sun have give brightness to all of us.
Enjoying the scene with my buddies :)
Last but not least The top photographer. Wilson Chin
I went to this yearly event, the lantern festive at Carpenter Street last week. With just a blink of an eye, this year marks the 9th mooncake festival. I’ve been visiting this place almost every year, and it brings a lot of joy and memory. The foods are delicious, and the number of stalls has been greater.
I saw my friend Kenwy Ho performing at the event, and he also played one of my favorite song The Night Fairy. He is a music professional, who owns three music schools at Kuching. And his main passion is playing the “yang qing” a Chinese musical instrument. I don’t eat much meat and fried food now adays, so in this trip I bought a few snacks and a cup of drink. But I do enjoy the atmosphere; I took a lot of photos that night together with my friends. And composed it into a short clip, hope you guys like it.
A brother and sister. I took this shoot at a village near to the Borneo Highland, their mum is a dialysis patients, and have a small canteen just beside their home.
Their were in the wooden canteen that time when I visited them. And I also visited their house, I notice something interesting is that there are puppies behind the house. And this is one of them...
An old lady was burning the soil to fertilizes it for the upcoming planting session.
The rest of the village also do the same, they do not have any fertilizer here, so this is the traditional way for them to do it, passdown from generation.
Is pretty amazing to see this phenomena, but Sarawak is truly a hidden treasure. I have heard of the Annah Rais hot spring before, and this is the first time I visit the place. As I know geographically hot spring exist is because of ………and……….so that the water will …………..! ok, I forgot my geography, and I didn’t get good marks in Science . But in a small land like Kuching, Sarawak we have hot spring here. More info on Hot Spring here
The Annah Rais Longhouse, and hot spring is situated here, near to the Borneo Highland Kuching. And is one of Sarawak tourist destination, they have home stay, local food, jungle tracking.
Is a medium stream, with calm water rapidly flowing downstream. When I just reach there, I began to look for this hot spot. Couldn’t find it, then there is this area with rocks circulating them. This might be it, immediately I jump into the water.
It was very shallow, and cold. I walk towards the rocks, and just when I reach, I saw bubbles coming out from the water! As this is the first time I encounter this, so I was kind of like a fool, shout to my friends to come over and see this.
I was a bit nerves, slowly put my feet into that area. I can felt the warm water, and then I try to step on the ground. The rocks feels warm when first step on it :)
Slowly I put both of my feel in the same spot, after a few second….hm~~ what is that feeling “ouch!!!!” the rocks is HOT. I nearly get my feet burn, Is very fun to soak yourself here, is a different feeling.
My dear reader, you definitely need to come and experience yourself. That excitement when you feel the hot water under your feet. Cause there are some muddy water, so you can’t see clearly where you are stepping. So every step is an unknown step, but that is where the fun is.
Is a very nice place, very shady, constant wind blows. If you want to stay here, they also have a home stay just at the entrance of the hot spring. For this trip, we didn’t stay long, cause we are quite late when we reach the place. So yep, we plan for a 2nd trip back here. Until then, see ya :)
p/s: better don't go to the hotspring on a hot sunny day :)
Visited the Dunuk Village 30 min drive from Borneo Highland (map here).
I saw kids gather around at one corner, they are looking at the fish that they caught. I ask them to show me where they get it, and they bring me to their daily playground. The river behind the village.
At first I tough they going to use a pole, or fish net to catch it. All of a sudden, they start to jump into that river o_O" wow~ kids stay in the city will never do this.
Quite happy to see them having fun in that river, catching fish, splashing water at each other, discussing plan to catch fish. I had a wonderful afternoon, can you picture the scene from my photo?
This is the stray dog stay near my neighborhood. She has fluffy fur, a fat body, a cute face, and a tame character. She has this milky white fur, so I name her "niu nai" in Chinese, and translate to English it means Milk.
Is quite pity sometime see her rounding on the neighborhood. She looks so cute and adorable.
She likes to be pat on the head. Everytime when I'm back from work, she just lye in front of my gate resting.
And when I call her name, she will come and bow down her head to let me pat. Lols what a cute little doggy.
I tried to keep her inside my garage few time, she just keep on barking and wanted to go out. So maybe she's already get use to the freedom, and don't want to have serious commitment. I then just let her go....
After failing to go to the Pulau Sampadi, we have try our luck to look for boat at another village nearby. And we reach the Rambungan Village, as this is another village with lesser house than the Sampadi village.
But there is a very long jetty, and there is a group of people fishing there. We went ask for direction, but they have no clue at all, as they are from Kuching (just like us). They are here for the sake of fishing only.
Check out the view at the jetty, breathtaking right. Mangrove tress can be seen just right next to the jetty.
Just look at that blue sky... and the island nearby. It would be super good that able to go visit the island. I'm imagining jumping into the sea for a swim, drinking coconut drinks, taking a nap under the tree shade.
Went to the Sampadi Island last Sunday~~well almost there, cause we can't find any boat to sail us over to the island. We can only enjoy the magnificent view of the island on the Sampadi beach.
However, this time I have took a series of HDR photos to share with you guys. Feel free to download it. Cheers
This is the Sampadi village, where only a few houses available here.
A bit disappointed, cause according to the village there, the island is just 15 mins of boat ride. The island is just there in front of us, with no boat available, this will be just a dream.
So beside the Sampadi Island, there are still others small island. One of the island that I visted before are the Talang Satang Island Read it here
Frankly speaking my friends and I are quite disappointed, as we already equipped with our camera, food, drinks. We try our luck again, as we head for another village nearby to ask for more information, ----------------- read on my next blog ------------
Start my trip at 8AM morning; drive around 1 ½ hours reach the Jangkar Village. We stop by to ask for direction, and were told that the waterfall is not here, we have to drive deep to reach the village inside. Drove another ½ hour, finally we got the correct path.
There are only a few houses available in the Kampung Jantan (where the waterfall is). Most of them work as a rubber tapper. We need a guide to walk us to the fall, and hire a local kid and tip him after we reach the fall.
The walk start at 10.15AM, and my team reach the fall at around 11AM. Was a bit late, cause one chubby friend need to stop frequently for rest.
The fall is magnificent. It’s a treasure that was yet to be discovered by most of the people. The fall is about 3 to 4 stories height. And one of the local guy actually jump from the middle of the waterfall, that’s crazy!!!
The weather is HOT, a perfect time to soak in the cold breezing water! My dear reader, this is a highly recommended place to visit next time when you’re at Kuching. To go there, drop me an email and I’ll draw a map for you. Cheers :)
There are many time where we do editing, we would need to split the video in certain part in order for us to insert maybe another image, a sound clip, another movie clip, or an video effect into it.
So today I’m gonna show you on how to split a video clip by using Vegas Pro, it will be an easy tutorial today.
Select a video to be edit, by selecting the folder that you store your video.
Then, click and drag the video into the Timeline Window.
You can zoom in to the video to have a better view, the zoom button is at the bottom right corner.
Then, you have to hit on the Play button, and when the time line reach the place you want to split the video, click on the S button on your keyboard.
After that, you can insert a photo, another video, or mp3 into the gap between the split video.
Here I’ll put an example; let’s say I want to put my photo between the split clip. So I will click and drag my photo to the place where I want it to be.
I had made a tiny clip on how to use this useful function from the beginning to end, hope this help. If you have any question, do email me (wilsonchin1981@gmail.com). See ya.
