Flood at Kuala-Lurah Road, Limbang

There’s a very heavy rain the day before I went to Miri. My brother and I are using bus, and a part of the road had badly hit by flood . The bus start at 8:00am, and it reach the flood part at around 8:50am. The bus driver stops, and went to check on the situation. The bus was full of passenger, and if he pulls back, the company will make a big lost. And some of the passenger needs to get to Miri by today as well. The Kuala-Lurah road is the only way to Brunei , then to Miri. Due to the heavy rain last night, the lower part of the area had flood. Normal cars can’t cross the flooded part, as the water level are a few feet high. It will definitely damage the car. Our bus driver had asked the locals on the high of the water level, and decided to give it a shoot. Here goes our bus… Here a clips when the bus driver drive cross the flooded road. Yes, we made it. I’m so happy that we’re able to cross this road, if not it would delay my plan; I have to go to Sabah at the end of October. I ha...

A Truck Driver’s Life – Part Two of Two

23rd Oct, 8.46am After 30 minutes of car ride we finally reach Sibu town. My Slow stop by the Shell Gas station to get some petrol, while me go to the wash room to pay my water bill. 23rd Oct, 8.47am The Petrol cost around RM100 at the moment, this truck is using Diesel and the Malaysia Government had subsidies some for them to lighten their burden. The gov had comeout with a program called Shell Card For Government Subsidized Diesel. 23rd Oct, 9.39am This time we did stop Sibu for coffee, our next stop will be Bintulu , then Miri . The road condition at Sarawak are poor, I just hope that one day the government will upgrade the road condition. I’ve been thinking, if the gov really upgrade the roads condition, they can save on: - Save on tires cost - Less truck maintenance - Save time, with double lane roads. - Increase the tourism industry, no more bumpy roads. But all of this would be just a dream; this is what happens when genius runs the city. 23rd Oct, 10.25am An ambulance car j...

A Truck Driver’s Life – Part One of Two

I follow a truck driver to go from Kuching to Miri , he works in my friend transport company. I had an unforgivable trip going back my hometown. So how is the life of a truck driver? I called the driver Mr. Slow 22nd Oct, 8.21pm Mr Slow was at the factory connecting the Nitrogen Tank to the truck, it weights about 32 tons . His boss keep on scolding Mr. Slow cause he overuse the petrol RM500 and more, they suspect him steal the Diesel and sell it to others, but he told me the truth is that he didn’t do it. 22nd Oct, 9.33pm On my way to Serian, then to Sarikei, Sibu , Bintulu , and Miri (My Destination) . But just when we’re reaching Serian Town , the Road and Transport Department officer summon our truck in for a truck weight inspection. Very fortunate our truck weight below the standard weight. 22nd Oct, 9.46pm Mr Slow haven’t had his dinner yet, he had lunch at 1pm just when he came back from Bintulu. I can tell that he’s hungry, this is the night market at Serian Town where h...

Bunleong Visitation

I follow my friend to Samarahan division, to a small town called Bunleong. Translate to Chinese is call “Wen Long” kiss of dragon :) that’s a nice name. To drive to Bunleong, it took us almost one hour car drive. Well, we didn’t purposely go there. My friend Chiew (the driver), need to buy yam to bake yam cake. So he knows a Malay friend who plants many yams, and is few times cheaper. He told me that there’s a newly build Chinese God temple, to get there we need to use boat. Along the way to Bunleong, there is not much to see but only small village houses, pineapple field, paddy field, and trees. After we reach the jetty, we park our car and board the boat. Is RM0.50 per person to cross the river, what interesting is the boat also carry motorcycle to Bunleong town. And there is no bridge to go to Bunleong, this boat is the only transportation that connect Samarahan divison, and Bunleong town. It takes about 10 minutes to cross the river. All the temple building materials ar...
