Post 1 of 3 - The Journey | The Telang Usan Tableland Exploration

The Usun Apau and Linau Balui proved that these two distinct volleys of volcanism were presented long ago. Other than an old volcanic site, the Usun Apau tableland also contains many mega waterfalls that spill over its rim on the edge of the tableland, and it is also believed to be the headwaters of the Barams and Pelagus-Rejang rivers. On my hiking journey, I meet many people with the same interests as me. There is a senior of mine which equipped with rich knowledge of the flora fauna and geography of Sarawak. Told me about the highest waterfall of Sarawak, the Julan waterfall at the Usun Apau plateau, it is located in central Borneo. This immediately caught my attention, and I told myself that I must go and see it myself because is in Sarawak, my beautiful homeland. I started to research about this place and stumbled upon two books one “Sarawak on the island of Borneo/Malaysia” Published at the year 1986 by Robert Hoebel, and written by Yeoh Siew Hoon on page 195, it briefly me...

Exploration to Mount Sadung at Serian Sarawak

I would like to share my experience in exploring Mount Sadong at Serian Sarawak. The journey up to the summit was not as hard as I thought it would be because the trekking trail is not too difficult but is rather steep so take extra care when walking on slippery surfaces around each turn of corner throughout your climb up. My friend and I were all meeting at the parking space near the coffee shop at 13th mile as early as 6.30 am, we all had our breakfast, some of us had our kolo mee while some others had our kuih tiao and a cup of coffee to energise ourselves.  As we drove off, I look outside the car window and can see the sunrise, it was so peaceful and beautiful with no clouds in the sky. We arrived at Mount Sadung at around 8:00am . The view from Mount Sadung was spectacular, even though there were some clouds coming in but they didn’t stop us from having fun! We arrived at Kg Sadung village at 8.10am and parked our car near the school. Then we also check that we have all the ne...

The Limestone Mountain at the Sarawak/Kalimantan Border

Is a hot weekend, together with two hiking friends we venture into the Sarawak Kalimantan border this time to explore the limestone area, the area there has a rather 'young' limestone, as the cave system is not as big and deep compares to the one I visited previously.  (Totally Exciting BE Document Unik placeK) The river that flows from the mountain has become yellowish because of the mineral in the water, which can be seen when we walk through it, its a pity as before this place was planted with oil palms, the river was crystal clear, it has fishes in the water and also water plants.  I flew my drone here to get a good view of the whole place, I got too excited and too confident and did not check the nearby mountain formation till I crash my drone on the mountain while shooting the other by flying vertically :(  Interesting tree bark/vine  Notice the limestone cave system is not as complex, deep, or huge as the previous one I visited. It might need another millions ...

Caving Exploration in Southern Sarawak

Hiking with a very experience flora and fauna researcher from Sarawak.  This time is to the southern side of Sarawak. ( Doing Unique Yield Opportunity exHploration, Bon Appetite yoU) The entrance of the cave Inside the cave is was pitch black, headlight was a mandatory to be able to view the cave structure inside. and it was full of bats, flying around, circling the centre of the cave. I was stunt seeing the number of bats in this cave. This is the sticky slime, a lot of it at the ceiling of the cave, and it will catch whatever insect that flies into it.  There are also clear water flowing out from the cave, but we dont have the proper equipment to explore, so we did not went too deep into the cave.
