the Japanese War Monument at Batu Lintang Kuching

I went to visit the Japanese grave at Batu Lintang, Kuching. This is the place when the Japanese surrender, after the Americans drop two atomic bombs at Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Notice bellow the monument, there is a plate with both Japanese and English writing on it. And this is what it wrote on the plate. The origin of the monument, During the second world war when every able bodied man has enlisted in the Japanese war efforts a group of young boys fireherman aged 15 - 16 volunteered their service to help the country by ferrying food supply to Japanese trools of the Southern fronts. These courageous boys were from the fishing port of Yaizu which was famous in Japan for its plentiful supply for bonito and tuna fishes. In their tiny 50 tonnes worn out fishing boats the boys began ferrying food supply to the southern battlefronts. Torward the end of the war, then massive counter attacks by the Americans and the British had cause heavy defeats of the Japanese army, the young Y...

Kuching Folding Bike Trip #01

I bough a beginner entry folding bike, because I plan to go cycling when I am not on my hiking trip. My bike is a 20" bike with 6 speed, shimano gear. My first trip is to the Batu Kawa old town, cycle to the old town, and roam around that area. Sunny day, and not much car on the road. The Rantau Panjang, a nice ride on the old Batu Kawa town. A long and nice country road into the unknown. The Penrissen 4th mile area. I only realize that there are a lot of open space in this area. Saw a car parked on the very end of the road there, but when I ride pass there, no one in the car. Wonder where is the driver go... A shortcut I discover in the Jalan Kong Ping road area, I found a big dead monitor lizard on the road. A serious injured on the head, so I use a stick to carry that dead lizard, and put aside on the road. Hope that no car will trip over it. After a long bicycle trip, its time to go home, so tired.

Batu Kawa-Singai mini expedition trip with Wilson Chin

This morning I'm going for a mini expedition. Location is on the rural Bau-Singai area. To go there, you will need to take the turn from Batu Kawa to Matang road. I did map this trip on google earth, but unfortunately google did not update this map, it was since 2008. And from google earth, this area was covered by clouds. I'm now in a forest garden, where its full of fruits, flowers, and the sound of insect. I can hear the water sound, very close by. So I am going to seek for this river. What I manage to found is not just river, but two beautiful waterfall too. The water very cold, and fresh. I saw fishes, and shrimps swimming happily in the water. This reminds me of my trip to Lambir Hill National Park at Miri, where I finish my drinking water, and had to drink the stream water, and there are fishes in the water that time, so my guess its that its save to drink. I also manage to eat durian there, very lucky manage to found one. And the taste extremely tasty. I l...

Before you come to this place, it will be advisable that you called and make a reservation first. A total of Brunei $48.00. Is cheap, and the food are fresh. The Borneo, Sarawak, Matang Kubah Waterfall with Wilson Chin

Do you know how does it feels to be inside the waterfall, or dive under water. Click on the play button on my video to watch how it is look like. From the looks of the crack line, can tell that this tree just fell down not long ago. It a pity to saw this big tree like this, imagine how many years does it take for it to grow that huge and tall, and how many oxygen that it can produce for the people here. Must educate our friends to cherish and protect our forest. Notice anything special in this picture? yeah, I know you saw the good looking Borneo explore Wilson Chin, but there is also something else there, keep looking...  When you see this type of fungus in the forest, please be extremely careful, and do not, I repeat, do not put your hand into its mouth, or else.....  The water are very refreshing, and when bath there, I can feel my skin getting fairer and softer. You should come and try it next time.
